I remeber learning how to read in elementary school.
My 1st grade class would take trips together to our school library and sit down on this big circle rug. Our librarian would read us new books every week! It was so fun being read to and the way she would tell the story. This encouraged me to start reading books at home with my grandparents.
My favorite book to read was “the very hungry caterpillar”, this book was not too challenging for me to read at that age and the creative visuals are what kept me entertained! I also remeber reading books called “guess how much I love you”, the story was sooo cute and made me feel happy and joyful. The words were easy for me to read at that age which is why I read that book a lot.
I also remember reading a lot of ABC books! Those helped me the most. This one specific book called “chicka chicka boom boom” was always fun for me to read once I got to 2nd or 3rd grade. I enjoyed the colors shown as well as the story of the letters of the alphabet.
I also remeber learning how to read in classes where we would have assignments filling in the blanks of sentences. That helped me a lot when learning how to read and write certain words and sentences as well as learning how to sound out words.
I also loved books like, “if you give a mouse a cookie”, “No. David”, “brown bear brown bear what do you see”, any Dr. Seuss books, as well as my favorite books that my mommy would read to my sisters and I called “Love You Forever” and “the giving tree”.
